This project aims to equip young people with climate-resilient agricultural practices, improve food security, and drive economic growth. GYG and our partners believe that, by investing in Ghana’s youth, we can unlock innovative solutions and build a sustainable food system. The project’s success is attributed to the dedication of our project staff, led by our Executive Director Prince Chentiwuni, our board members, and GYG volunteers.

During the distribution of the certified seeds, R2C Project Coordinator, Chentiwini S.A Fatawu, stated that the support aims to equip young farmers, especially women, with skills and resources to adopt climateresilient agricultural practices. He emphasized that investing in youth can unlock innovative solutions to enhance productivity and ensure a sustainable and food-secure future.

He also encouraged the beneficiary communities to take full advantage of the intervention to build resilience and address challenges such as poverty, hunger, and malnutrition in their areas. GYG project staff, volunteers and board members led the procurement and distribution of certified crop seedlings at the household level in the two districts (Savelugu and Tolon).

Statement by the Savelugu Traditional Leader (YO – NAA):
The project staff, GYG board members and volunteers used the opportunity to interact with the paramount chief of Savelugu traditional area (Yoo-Naa – Andani Yakubu Abdulai). The Chief called on GYG to expand the intervention to other communities in his traditional area. The traditional leader stressed that, household farmers need financial support to sustain climate-smart
agricultural practices. Yoo-Naa commended GYG for its efforts and also called on government and nongovernmental organizations to provide farm inputs and credit facilities to household farmers in the districts.

During our meeting with the traditional leader of Savelugu (Yoo-Na), project staff, GYG board members, and volunteers received a heartfelt appeal for support. The leader also urged GYG, partners, government, and NGOs to assist household farmers in the two districts by providing farm inputs and accessible credit facilities to bolster their financial stability.” The traditional leader expressed concern that climate-smart agricultural practices are costly, urging Ghana Youth Guide (GYG) and its partners to consider providing
financial support to farmers to ensure sustainability. He commended GYG for their proactive approach in leading stakeholder engagement meetings in his area, particularly in facilitating broader consultations to secure land for women farmers.
