ALERT: MORE YOUNG WOMEN FALLING TO DRUGS…PRINCE CHENTIWUNI HINTS
The Executive Director of Ghana Youth Guide (GYG), Prince Chentiwuni Salifu Abdul Fataw has hinted that the rate at which young women in northern Ghana are using hard drugs is alarming. The Executive Director revealed this at the 3rd edition of Ghana Youth Guide’s Girls Conference on Saturday 28th September, 2025 at the Tamale Girls Senior High School in Tamale.
According to the Executive Director, a lot of young women in the North take hard drugs for fun and pleasure which end result is not positive for the young women. ” Go to Tamale forest and see what is happening there. Majority of the people doing drugs there are young girls. It’s hard to believe”.
He lamented. He added that parents have shirk their responsibilities and the society has allowed young girls to be on their own and further called on parents to be responsible in raising their children.
Mr. Chentiwuni further called on the young women to see themselves as agents of change and do away with drugs as it has the potential to end their lives prematurely.
The 2025 Girls Conference was the third edition which was first held in Tnamale in 2019, 2024 and 2025 which was with the theme: “Empowering Girls, Defying Addiction: Strenghtening Resilience for a Better Future”.
