N/R, Tolon-Naa Commends GYG, Calls for All-Inclusive Fight Against Climate Change
The Paramount Chief of the Tolon Traditional Area, Major (Rtd.) Sulemana, has called for an all-inclusive approach to the fight against climate change. His call came during the Ghana Youth Guide’s Annual District Climate Action Week Celebration held in the Tolon District. Addressing the gathering, Naa Nyeb-Tolon-Naa commended GYG for their Resilient Root of Change project and urged them to expand their catchment area.

The Annual District Climate Action Week Celebration in the Tolon District, held under the theme “Empowering Communities, Enhancing Resilience, Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in Northern Ghana,” brought together stakeholders including traditional authorities, the Ghana National Fire Service, students from Tolon Senior High School, media representatives, and household farmers from Tolon, Gbanjon, Waribugu, Kamonaayili, Galinkpegu, and Gbalahgu.
The celebration aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices, enhance community resilience, and empower Ghanaian youth. Addressing participants, Naa Nyeb-Tolon-Naa commended GYG for the intervention and called for inclusive efforts to address the effects of climate change on agriculture.

In his remarks, the Executive Director of Ghana Youth Guide, Chentiwuni S. A. Fatawu, said the event was meant to put pressure on policymakers to formulate policies that address climate justice. He added that climate justice is social justice and requires urgent attention.
The celebration featured discussions, presentations, and exhibitions showcasing climate-smart agricultural practices and community-led initiatives. Some participants also shared their thoughts to GYG calling for proejct expand to reach more communities in the area.
The household farmers who participated in the campaign demonstrated strong participation and commitment to climate advocacy and sustainable agriculture in their communities by sharing their thoughts with GYG. According to Amatu Chentiwuni from Gbulahagu, my participation in the GYG R2C intervention has led to my entire households now adopting to CSA practices.

We have now seen the achievements in practicing CSA farming. We had a bumper harvest this year through our backyard gardens with the support of GYG certified maize seeds by adopting the CSA approaches. She added.
