Ghana Youth Guide (GYG) is an NGO working in youth empowerment, advocacy and sustainable agriculture. To implement the Resilient Roots of Change (R2C) project, it has secured funding from the Civil Society in Development and technical support from our Danish partner NGO, DIB.

Location: GYG is headquartered in Tamale, but the two positions are for the Savelugu Municipal and Tolon District in the Northern Region, Ghana.

Position Summary: Ghana Youth Guide seeks to recruit two qualified field officers. The field officer’s primary function is to oversee the implementation and monitoring of project activities at the ten (10) target partner communities in the Tolon District and Savelugu Municipality. The field officers will ensure that implementation schedules are met per the detailed project activity implementation plan and strengthen adherence to systems for quality project implementation. This will include shaping and directing the organization’s work in championing sustainable agriculture and engaging stakeholders to achieve the set project and organizational objectives.

Functional Relationships: Project unit and other team members

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support Ghana Youth Guide programs by supervising and managing all activities in the districts and project sites.
  • Support in the identification and selection of beneficiaries based on established criteria
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to beneficiaries to ensure compliance with program requirements and collect feedback on their experiences.
  • Gather data related to beneficiary performance and project impact, which may include surveys and interviews.
  • Prepare detailed reports on field activities and submit them to the Project Coordinator on a regular and timely basis.
  • Take the lead in preparing field reports as required
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between beneficiaries and the project management team.
  • Organize training sessions for beneficiaries to enhance their understanding and orientation of the project.
  • Assist in developing educational materials that support beneficiaries in utilizing their farming activities effectively.
  • Manage logistics related to field operations, including travel arrangements for site visits.
  • Engage with local communities to promote awareness of the project within the district.
  • Collaborate with partner institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders to foster support for the project.
  • Keeping appropriate records for monitoring purposes
  • Monitoring volunteers in line with the project objectives.
  • Monitoring and evaluating Project activities in the project communities.
  • Any other duty that might be assigned by the Project Coordinator.

 

Qualifications Requirements:

  • A degree in social sciences, education, development work, project management, social work, or other relevant fields of study.
  • 2-5 years of experience in project design and implementation in a similar role.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects and stakeholder engagement.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the environment and people, including culture in the two districts.
  • Ability to remain flexible to in a changing environment and to make decisions independently.
  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office suite for documentation and reporting tasks.
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of GYG Ghana.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Working knowledge of local dialect (Dagbani) will be an added advantage
